Description: The Marine Highway Program administered by the Maritime
Administration (MARAD) was fully implemented in September 2010. The
propose of this program designated in the Energy Independence and
Security Act of 2007 is to provide alternative freight and passenger
transportation choices to relieve congestion, reduce energy use, improve
air quality and add resiliency to transportation corridors. Program
implementation included the designation of Marine Highway Corridors and
Projects, and the award of grants to a select group of projects.
Additionally, studies of major Marine Highway Corridor markets and
vessels are underway. This program engages not only the federal
government but also state and local governments as well as the private
sector.

Talking Freight seminars are eligible for 1.5 AICP Certification
Maintenance Credits (for AICP members). In order to receive credit, you
