Following are some highlights of alumni and faculty news from the School of Library and Information Science at Kent State University. www.slis.kent.edu

 

Dr. Yin Zhang, Ph.D., and SLIS Assistant Professor Athena Salaba, Ph.D., presented “FRBRizing Existing MARC Records at Expression and Manifestation Levels” at the ALCTS FRBR Interest Group 2011 Midwinter Program in San Diego on Jan. 7.

 

Catherine Hakala-Ausperk's book  Be A Great Boss: One Year to Success was just published by ALA editions. She is an adjunct instructor for SLIS and a 1991 SLIS alumna.

 

Assistant Professor Jodi Kearns’ refereed article on "Personal Ontological Information Responsibility" was accepted for publication in Library Review 60(3).

 

Goodyear Professor in Knowledge Management Denise Bedford has been invited to serve on a panel for the “Crossing Barriers: Coordination & Standards” panel at the Knowledge Futures symposium at Emory University.

 

Assistant professor Dan Roland's article "Serendipitous Juxtaposition? The Revised Common Lectionary and Political Cue Giving in Sermons Prior to the 2008 Presidential Election" will be published in the spring 2011 issue of  Journal of Religious and Theological Information.

 

Professor Carolyn Brodie, Ph.D., is featured in "School News Spotlight: The Virginia Hamilton Conference" in the January 2011 online issue of NoveList.
