Middle School Librarian Darlington School seeks a qualified candidate to be the Middle School Librarian who is committed to providing a child-centered learning environment that fosters creativity and encourages critical thinking and problem solving. Demonstrated experience in libraries and information literacy settings in a competitive, college preparatory or university setting is a must. This position will have the unique opportunity to work with the Library Services Department to grow and develop strong, child-centered library programs at all school levels. Candidates should be of the highest character and integrity and should be willing to commit to strengthening the programs and policies of Darlington School. Responsibilities * Displays a passion for libraries and for information literacy * Demonstrates a commitment to improving student learning both inside the library and out * Uses strategies and creates learning opportunities that address diverse learning styles * Fosters a love of reading and promotes diversity, intellectual integrity, and freedom of inquiry and expression * Anticipates information needs in an increasingly global community * Teaches information literacy skills including critical evaluation and effective use of resources * Provides multiple methods of assessment that demonstrate knowledge, skill, and understanding * Provides leadership in the use of information technology on campus * Integrates technology for professional and classroom use * Develops a plan of professional growth and development that fosters life-long learning * Communicates effectively with colleagues and parents * Promotes a positive, supportive, and collaborative school culture Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the following experiences and/or qualifications: * Willingness to model the distinct mission of Darlington School * Must have an MLS from an accredited university * Experience in cataloging, collection development, and overall library management of a middle school library are requirements * Proficiency in the use of library automation system software and all Microsoft Office products.
