When they work they are absolutely wonderful.  However, I have never had more problems out of one shipment of computers than I have these.  First it took them nearly 6 months to even get our order to us.  We’ve had them out in public use maybe 3 months.  We have 14 of them and in that time have had 1 monitor completely quit working (had to be RMA’d by ViewSonic), one PC that would no longer power on (had to be shipped back to AWE), a mouse that went haywire, and countless random software problems, mostly relating to quirks in the VMWare setup that they use.

Luckily I have a work-study position assigned to me as a helper this year.  He has been handling all of the problems with these machines.

Bottom line: they are wonderful machines if you have the time and personnel to keep them up.  For us, they have most certainly not been the low-maintenance turnkey package they were intended to be.

Subject: Early literacy stations

Does anyone have these early literacy stations installed in your branches? Can you give me your stories? Good, bad, indifferent? Do you have them connected to your network?
