Endowed Chair in Innovative Learning Technologies

Associate or Full Professor – Tenure track

 

The University of Denver’s Morgridge College of Education (MCE) invites applications for the Endowed Chair in Innovative Learning Technologies (ILT). This unique, new position is housed in the Curriculum and Instruction Program which is part of the P20 Domain. It is a collaborative appointment at the Associate or Professor level with emphases in STEM, Information Studies, and Curriculum and Instruction. This is a 9month appointment. At MCE we recognize that the synergy between information, technology, education, and people are critical to achieve educational excellence. To this end, the Endowed Chair in ILT will play a key role in setting the direction to explore and design new approaches, methods, and practices in using learning technologies to enhance and transform students’ learning experience. The ILT Endowed Chair will provide leadership to the MCE faculty, student, and community in curriculum development and research initiatives with an emphasis on finding solutions to 21st century challenges in teaching and learning. The Endowed Chair will be a leader in interdisciplinary research within and outside MCE to understand the science of learning, literacy, technologyenhanced teaching and learning and datadriven decisions. As a college of education, MCE strives for excellence to prepare the next generation of teachers, educational leaders, counselors, library and information professionals, and school administrators that in turn prepare young minds who are ready to succeed in college.

As a member of the MCE faculty, this person will be engaged in teaching, research, and service. In MCE, we place particular emphasis on the value of engaged scholarship. The ILT Chair will be expected to acquire significant external funding in the area of innovative learning technologies in collaboration with MCE faculty, other DU programs, and the communities we serve.

Required Qualifications: Candidates should have an earned doctorate (PhD or EdD) and a demonstrated record of scholarly contributions, teaching, and professional service in areas that intersect education, usercentered information design, and educational technology. Priority will be given to candidates who have developed or led the development of tools, applications, interactive web portals, immersive learning environments, or software that augment educational practices inside and outside classroom settings. The ideal candidate will have an educational background preferably combining learning sciences and instructional systems technology, or information studies. Applicants should be tenurable at the Associate Professor or Professor level in the MCE.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Preferably, applicants will have a record of acquisition of significant funding; evidence of visionary research and program development in the area of innovative learning technologies; evidence of multidisciplinary collaboration, particularly in the STEM areas; experience in a higher education environment.

The MCE is located in the new Katherine A. Ruffatto Hall, a 65,000 square foot complex providing a flexible, innovative, and multidisciplinary learning environment. The facility allows for ongoing dialogue with community, national, and global partners as we enter a transformational era in education. The facility features stateoftheart technology including interactive white boards and flatpanel displays throughout the building, two TelePresence videoconferencing systems, and a Voiceover Internet Protocol (VOIP) integrated communications system.
