FSU-SLIS 2011 Spring Proseminar Colloquia Series

 

The School of Library & Information Studies at the Florida State University College of Communication & Information announces its 2011 Spring Proseminar Colloquia Series.

 

All sessions take place in Room 206, Louis Shores Building (LSB), Florida State University campus, at 12:00 noon. In addition to research colloquia presentations being simulcast on the Internet as in previous years, viewers will be able to participate remotely in some proseminar sessions by means of Elluminate.

"Research Questions,"  is presented by the SLIS doctoral student panel of Kyoungsik Na, Melinda Whetstone, and Adam Worrall discusses identifying important questions for research.

 

February 2 · 12:00–1:00 PM

“Human Subjects Applications," (12:00–1:00 PM) is presented by Julie Haltiwanger of the FSU Human Subject Committee, followed by “Preparing a Human Subjects Application from Start to Finish” (1:00–2:00 PM) from Lauren Mandel  and Nicole Alemanne.

 

February 16 · 12:00–2:00 PM

Writing for publication is discussed by Paul T. Jaeger (University of Maryland) and Gary Burnett.

 

February 23 · 1:00–2:00 PM

Making decisions about where to publish is discussed by Michelle Kazmer and Marcia Mardis, following the 12:00–1:00 PM colloquium broadcast.

 

March 2 · 12:00–2:00 PM

The role of funding in research is discussed by Ross Ellington, FSU Associate VP for Research.
