UW-Milwaukee SOIS New Interim Dean
For Immediate Release: January 31, 2011

Professor Hope Olson, who has been serving as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) School of Information Studies (SOIS) interim Dean while Dean Johannes Britz serves as the UWM interim Provost and Vice Chancellor, recently announced that she is stepping down due to health reasons. Dr. Olson, who is internationally recognized for her contributions to information organization education and research, will continue as a member of the SOIS faculty to focus on teaching and research. Prior to her role as interim Dean, Professor Olson served as the SOIS Associate Dean for four years.

Professor Dietmar Wolfram has been appointed to serve as SOIS interim Dean beginning February 1st. Professor Wolfram has been a faculty member at SOIS since 1990. He is a noted researcher in the areas information retrieval, user studies, and applied informetrics. Dr. Wolfram had served previously as SOIS interim Associate Dean and most recently as Director of the PhD program in Information Studies.
