library programs

On Thursday, February 3, 2011, East Tennessee Library Association (ETLA)
will host a talk by Sean McCollough on how he plans for library music
programs. Meet and greet with drinks and light snacks will begin at
5:30pm in The University of Tennessee at Knoxville's Center for
Children's & Young Adult Literature (CYAL), which is room 434 on the far
east end of the fourth floor of UTK's Communications & University
Extension building. Sean's talk will begin at 6pm in the Scripps lab,
which seats approximately 30-40 people.

CYAL is going to set up a display of books on musical topics
specifically for our event. Librarians are invited to bring brochures of
favorite library entertainers and performers so that they can exchange
ideas.

According to his website (http://www.seanmccollough.com/), Sean is a
multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. He is also a teacher, a
band leader, a record producer and a sound engineer. His musical
endeavors take him in many directions. He performs solo and currently
plays with two different groups, The Lonetones
<http://www.thelonetones.com/> and The John Myers Band
<http://www.myspace.com/brotherjohnmyers> . He was also in the band for
the play "Between a Ballad and a Blues," a production of Carpetbag
Theatre <http://www.carpetbagtheatre.org/> . Remaining very active as a
professional musician, he presents workshops and does residencies in
schools, gives lectures at museums and conferences, and teaches
musicology at the The University of Tennessee
<http://www.music.utk.edu/faculty/musicology.html> .

The Communications & University Extension building can be seen on the
map at http://www.utk.edu/maps/campus/ (choose 7 as the location).
Parking is available Circle Park Drive in front of the building as well
as in the lots behind the building. If you park on Circle Park Drive,
you will enter the building on the third floor and will need only to go
up one floor to the CYAL.
