Two tenure-track faculty positions      

 

The graduate École des sciences de l’information | School of Information Studies (ÉSIS) at the University of Ottawa, Canada, invites expressions of interest for TWO full-time tenure-track positions in library and information science at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Appointment will be for July 1, 2011, and salary will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

The School offers a Master’s of Information Studies (MIS) and a Graduate Certificate in Information Studies (GCIS).  Further information about the School can be found at www.sis.uottawa.ca.

 

The School is seeking candidates with one or more of the following specializations: knowledge organization, metadata and information standards; data curation and digital repositories; social media and information behaviour in organizations; and/or information policy and management, preservation and archives.

 

Candidates should have a PhD (or nearing completion) in a relevant area; an MLIS (or comparable degree) and relevant professional experience will be an asset. Candidates will be expected to teach courses in at least one of the core areas in the ÉSIS MIS program, as well as to offer advanced graduate elective courses in their areas of expertise. Successful applicants will have a demonstrated potential for high scholarly impact and be able to teach in one of Canada’s two official languages (English or French), with a working knowledge of the other. Experience or demonstrated ability in design and delivery of courses in a variety of formats, including distance learning modes, is highly desirable.
