Call for Proposals: Faculty First Program 2011
Do you have an idea about incorporating new technologies in your
classroom, but simply don't have the time, technical skills, or
resources to implement it? Apply for the Faculty First grant
administered by the OIT’s Innovative Technology Consulting.

The primary focus of the Faculty First Program is providing design and
development assistance in reshaping a course or course component to
enhance the use of technology in the course delivery. You offer the
content and serve as a subject matter expert, and consultants will do
the development for you, incorporating the appropriate technology into
your course.

Grant proposals are due Monday, January 31, 2011.

Community of Practice Update
At our November 29 lunch we discussed student preferences for course-
related communication and learned about new Turning Technologies
clicker features (including an option that allows for self-paced
testing). Brown Bag lunches will resume in Spring 2011; see our
January eNewsletter for the schedule. For more information, or to be
added to the IT CoP mailing list, contact Gina Phipps at
[log in to unmask] or 974-7912.

Clicker Roundtable Wrap Up
Representatives from our clicker vendor, Turning Technologies, visited
campus on December 1 for an end-of-the-semester feedback session.
Turning Technologies Distinguished Educator Will Schleter, UTK
Engineering Lecturer, shared his team-teaching strategies with clicker
technology. During the open discussion and lunch, novice and advanced
users shared their clicker technology experiences as well. The session
proved to be an enlightening and engaging learning opportunity for all
involved.

OIT will offer introductory workshops to assist faculty in preparation
for the Spring 2011 semester. To attend a clicker workshop, visit http://itc.utk.edu/workshops
to register. If you will be using clickers for Spring 2011, be sure
to contact the UT Bookstore to place your clicker order.

For more information on clicker technology, contact the OIT Helpdesk
at help.utk.edu or 974-9900.
