The James M. Milne Library at the
SUNY College at Oneonta seeks an enthusiastic, self-motivated, creative, service-oriented
Technology Development Librarian interested in introducing, implementing and
integrating library technologies such as digital content, web applications, and
innovative technology projects that will better serve our users’ needs. The
position is a 12-month tenure-track line at the Senior Assistant Librarian
rank. The SUNY College at Oneonta is one of 13 colleges of arts and
sciences within the SUNY system. The College has a student body of
approximately 5,800 and is noted for the academic achievement and commitment to
community service of its students, an outstanding faculty, excellent facilities
in technology, and a first-class library. Milne Library contributes to the
overall mission of the College by providing resources and services to meet the
intellectual and academic needs of students, faculty, and staff. To learn

Duties: Under the
direction of the Head of Library Technologies, assist in creating and
supporting a feature-rich, intuitive technology environment for a diverse
population of students, faculty, and staff. Participate in maintaining
and developing the Library’s website consistent with campus web strategies.
Provide support for new e-content, web programming, and assess technology
trends to determine their application to and suitability for the Library. Serve
as liaison to academic departments and participate in reference services.
Qualifications Required:
Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program at time of appointment;
Preferred: Aptitude
for learning digital collection management, electronic resource management, and
metadata standards; demonstrated understanding of principles and concepts
of the library science profession; in-class or work experience creating a
seamless user experience incorporating different and emerging platforms such as
smartphones, web, e-readers, and tablets; experience working and serving
diverse populations; ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally
and in writing; ability to analyze and solve problems creatively and flexibly
in a complex and rapidly changing environment; internship or work experience in
an academic or special library.
