The Curator of Furnishings and Decorative Arts is responsible for the scholarly
interpretation, acquisition, and care of decorative arts for
any architectural interior including the Executive Mansion. The Curator of
Furnishing and Decorative Arts reviews, researches, and
collects artifacts representative of furnishings and decorative arts in
North Carolina that are integral to the Museum of History's legislative
mandate. This Curator will oversee and work with the collections and
furnishings of the North Carolina Executive Mansion
per legislative mandate. This classification of artifacts includes  furniture,
domestic artifacts, surface coverings, wall and window  treatments, and a
variety of building interiors(residential, domestic,  and the Executive
Mansion of North Carolina.

*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities should be commensurate to a Curator who  has
specialized training and experience in Southern Decorative Arts  and other
specialized training in related related fields of cultural resource
management. Curator must be able to work with colleagues across a variety of
museum fields, the general public, and agencies of state government. Curator
should be knowledgeable with the components used to fabricate historic
furnishings, related decorative arts, and historic preservation.

*Training and Experience Requirements*

A master s degree in museum studies, education, history, public history,
architectural history, design, or specific content area or field of
expertise and three years of experience in museum related work; or
equivalent combination of training and experience. Management Prefers a
Master's Degree in American Material Culture. Degrees must be from
appropriately accredited institutions.

experienced, enthusiastic and proactive archivist to join our
professional staff.  The Associate Archivist performs reference duties
as well as arrangement and description, cataloguing and preservation
of materials in all formats and collecting areas. The Associate
Archivist also participates in the digital projects and Internet
initiatives of The Marcus Center.

Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS or MA degree in History with
graduate level course work in archival management and at least 1-2
years professional experience as an archivist is required. Must
demonstrate experience with MARC, DACS  and EAD, Internet
technologies, electronic databases and other applications relevant to
archives including digitization of original materials and preparation
of appropriate metadata. The ideal candidate will have good
communication skills, be well organized, adaptable, and have the
ability to work collaboratively and take initiative. Must be able to
lift and move 40-pound boxes.

Public Services Librarian

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is currently considering
applicants for the position of Public Services Librarian. The Public
Services Librarian reports to the Director of Library and Archives and
coordinates all aspects of public services functions in the Library
and Archives, including reference service, instruction, outreach, and
management of the Library Reading Room; serves as the primary
reference librarian and provides reference assistance to on-site and
off-site users; provides instruction to users on Library and Archives'

Required:
Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program in library or

Qualifications:
Education: Master's Degree in Library/Information Science or other
Masters Degree.
Experience: At least one year of practical experience with non-MARC
metadata in a library environment. Working knowledge of relevant
XML-based standards (e.g. Dublin Core, MODS, VRA Core, METS, PREMIS).
Demonstrated leadership or project management experience. Excellent
written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
