Happy Thanksgiving from the UT Parents Association

There are no classes on Thursday, November 25 or Friday, November 26 in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday. Residence Halls will remain open during Thanksgiving break.

On behalf of our staff, volunteers, and most importantly, the students who benefit from your support we hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving! We are thankful for all the parents and family members who support the University and strengthen our Association. Thank you for your membership in the UT Parents Association!

Message from the Chancellor

The November edition of the Chancellor's Notes is now available online by clicking here. Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek includes information on the freshman-to-sophomore retention rate, campus announcements on positive developments in research, top priority areas in education, and increased efforts to enroll Memphis-area students.

On Monday, November 22, 2010, Chancellor Cheek notified all students, faculty, and staff via email regarding UT's Inclement Weather Policy. This policy appears in the 2010-2011 edition of Hilltopics, the official UT student handbook. Click here to view the policy.

Important Registration Deadline Update

The Spring 2011 Payment and Scehdule Confirmation Due Date is Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 4:30 PM. Please note: This is a correction from the date printed on page 10 of the 2010-2011 Parents Association Handbook and Calendar.

Arts and Sciences Pregame Showcase

Join the UT College of Arts and Sciences for a Pregame Showcase on Saturday, November 27 before the Vols take on Kentucky. Brandon Prins, associate professor in the Department of Political Science will speak on "The Pendulum of Congressional Power: Partisan Opposition to Presidential Foreign Policy" in the University Center Ballroom two hours before kickoff. December 10: Residence Halls Close at 5:00 PM for Non-graduating Students

December 11: Fall 2010 Commencement; Residence Halls Close at 8:00 PM for Graduating Seniors

December 24-31: University Closed for Winter Break

January 1: First Day to Submit Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for Fall 2011

January 9: Residence Halls Open at 1:00 PM

January 10: Campus Dining Spring Meal Plan Begins

January 11: Spring 2011 Payment and Schedule Confirmation Due at 4:30 PM

January 12: Full and First Session Spring 2011 Semester Classes Begin
