This week's JC is the last one for the semester (Honors Students take note!) and features one of our newest professors, Dr. Joan Lind. As usual the talk is at 3:35 in HBB 102, with pizza in Aconda 113. Next semester the JC will be in the fabulous new colloquium room in Ayres Hall!!! Title: Random Walks Abstract: Suppose you decide to go for a walk, and each time you reach a corner, you randomly choose the direction to take for the next block. Your path will be an example of a simple random walk. In this talk, we will take a look at this and other random walks, and we will discuss Schramm-Loewner Evolution, an exciting new random process which is related to these random walks. There will be plenty of pictures and simulations along the way.
