The University of Kentucky (UK) has received an AIDS
Community Information Outreach Award from the National Library of Medicine.
This is a collaborative effort involving the School of Library and Information
Science, Bluegrass Care Clinic (UK's HIV/AIDS outpatient clinic), and AVOL (a
local community-based HIV/AIDS service organization). Funds from the award are
being used to provide a circulating collection of netbook computers at the
Bluegrass Care Clinic for patient use during clinic visits to facilitate
information access at the point and time of need and to provide training on use
of electronic HIV/AIDS information resources. One objective of the
project is to assess the scalability of this model to serve other outpatient
clinics supported by UK HealthCare. For more information, contact:
