The topic of the 2011 IAS/Park City Mathematics Institute is:
Moduli Spaces of Riemann Surfaces
It is being organized by Benson Farb (Chicago), Richard Hain (Duke), and
Eduard
Looijenga (Utrecht). PCMi consists of integrated programs for:
** graduate students
** researchers (including postdocs)
** undergraduates
** undergraduate faculty
** secondary school teachers
The dates of PCMI 2011 are July 3 to 23, 2011. The graduate lecture series will
be given by:

These courses will cover graduate-level material on moduli spaces of Riemann
surfaces from the points of view of algebraic topology, geometric topology,
Teichmuller theory, algebraic geometry and arithmetic geometry. It is
complemented by a research program. Applicants to the graduate program
should
have had a year of algebraic topology (e.g. from Hatcher's book). Graduate-
level
background in one of complex analysis, riemannian geometry, or algebraic
geometry is also recommend.
In addition, there will be two undergraduate-level lecture series on the
topology of surfaces and on hyperbolic geometry. These lecture series will be
given by

Applicants to the undergraduate program should have taken courses in real
analysis and linear algebra. Exposure to group theory and point-set topology is
recommended.
