Dear SIS Community, Recently, the Office of the Dean of Students has deactivated "inactive" student organizations via the go.utk.edu website. Organizations were deemed inactive if they had no activity on the website for a certain period of time. It is important to take care of this, as the organization will not have official student organization status within the university, and that could jeopardize some of our charters and agreements with national organizations. In order to reactivate the organization, an officer of the group must reactivate the group on the go.utk.edu website, sign in with their NetID and password, and click to Reactivate a Student Organization. From there, you will see a listed of deactivated organizations. Find yours from the list, and click it. You will become an administrator of that group. In order to be reactivated, an organization must have 10 members (including officers), a constitution uploaded, and an adviser listed. Administrators can add members and choose privacy levels for each member of their org when adding members. This way, people viewing the group do not see all members. In addition, you can request a UTK email address or UNIX account for your organization on the reactivation page. Officers: If your organization is short a few members, please contact some of your fellow students who are interested in the topics your organization covers. There has been talk of reciprocal agreements, such as "you join mine, I'll join yours." Or perhaps when receiving this message, our fellow students will realize how important it is to support their student chapters and decide to join. Most dues for student chapters are $5-10 a year. That is very reasonable, and provides organizations with funds for their activities such as the mixer, gas money for trips out of town, or fees for event activities. The organizations can only get better with more members and more input from involved students! Membership information is located here: http://www.sis.utk.edu/organizations. Thank you, Jennifer SAA-UTK President [log in to unmask]
