*Associate Director for Collections*

The University at Albany, SUNY, invites applications and nominations for the
position of Associate Director for Collections. Reporting to the Dean and
Director of Libraries, this senior administrative position is responsible
for building, assessing and managing the Libraries' print and electronic
collections, managing a $5 million acquisitions budget, and supervising,
coordinating and evaluating the work of the Libraries' subject specialists.
Responsibilities also include oversight of gifts, Special Collections,
University Archives, and the Preservation Department. As a member of the
senior administrative group, the Associate Director shares responsibility
for developing and implementing the mission, goals and broad policy
directions for the University Libraries.

Albany is looking for an experienced, creative, forward-thinking leader with
a keen sense of the evolving role of research libraries in the digital age
and demonstrated knowledge of best practices and current trends in
collection management and scholarly communication.  The Associate Director
works actively with academic schools and departments to determine selective
areas of excellence and growth to be reflected in the Libraries' collection
investment. S/he is responsible for coordinating initiatives with other
associate directors and library managers, advising and mentoring junior
faculty, and promoting staff professional growth. S/he represents the
Libraries on collaborative projects with other campus units and other
libraries.  The Associate Director demonstrates commitment to personal
professional development through scholarly research and publication,
presentations, and participation in national professional associations.

Required: Graduate degree in librarianship from an ALA-accredited
institution and from a college or university accredited by a U. S.
Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting
organization.  Successful, progressively responsible experience in
developing research library collections; management and supervisory
experience; and, a track record of creativity in developing library
programs.  Strong analytical and budget management skills. Demonstrated
ability to work across organizational boundaries and to lead effective teams
and manage change.  Working knowledge of the scholarly publications market,
scholarly communications trends, the open access movement, digital
repositories, and library technical services and resource sharing. Must
demonstrate: strong service orientation; excellent oral and written
communication skills; ability to organize and plan; leadership ability; and
ability to use library and office computer applications. All applicants must

grant writing experience.

*The Petroleum Institute (PI)*, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates invites
applications for the new position of *Systems and Web Development Librarian*.




The successful applicant will lead developments and operations in enhancing
library web related activities, integrate access to digital information as
well as administer and develop the library’s information management systems.
The position reports directly to the Head Librarian.



*Responsibilities:*



The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the
following:



·         Develop and implement new Web based applications and user services

·         Manage digital information services and resources that support
teaching, learning and research

·         Establish policies and standards for presentation of web based
content and services

·         Manage and administer all aspects of the library’s Integrated
Library Management System ILMS

·         Liaise with system vendor and Institute’s IT department for
development of the system

·         Provide technical expertise, support and training for the
successful operation and development of the ILMS

·         Complete projects reports and other assigned tasks within
established time frames so that library system goals and objectives are met
and services delivered efficiently and effectively

·         Manage and administer all aspects of the Library’s various
information systems

·         Provide technical expertise, support, and training for digital
library planning and development

·         Serve as the library liaison to appropriate campus committees

·         Participate in Library, institutional and other professional
activities

·         Perform other duties as assigned



*Requirements:*



·         Demonstrated/documented evidence of successful management of web
projects, computer systems projects and networking

·         Knowledge, web design, scripting languages and support skills and
of MARC and metadata record structures

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·         Familiarity with SQL

·         Demonstrated substantial experience with an integrated library
management system

·         Familiarity with relational databases and handling a variety of
data formats

·         3-5 years relevant library experience preferred

·         International library experience an advantage

·         Ability to work in a small team environment

·         Demonstrated capacity to foster and manage change

·         Ability to lead, envision, and plan for future directions



*Preferred Qualifications:*



·         Accredited ALA MLS degree or other internationally recognized
library qualifications. Candidates with any equivalent combination of
education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge,
skills, and abilities may be considered.

*·         *Knowledge of standard Microsoft software packages, experience in
Web server administration**
