Student Unpaid Collections Inventory Internships
The William J. Clinton Presidential Library is the eleventh Presidential Library administered by the Office of Presidential Libraries within the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). The Clinton Library, which includes an archival research facility and a museum, is responsible for preserving and processing in perpetuity the official Presidential records, audiovisual materials, and gifts of the Clinton Administration. The Clinton Library invites undergraduate and graduate level students to submit applications for our unpaid internship program.
While the program is available to students regardless of major, these collections inventory internships offer exceptional opportunities to students in public history, museum studies and related disciplines who wish to gain firsthand experience in museum related work.
Job Description:
Collections Inventory interns assist Registrar and Museum Technicians with 100% inventory of 90,000 + object collection. Examples of tasks include data entry in collections management program, packing and unpacking items, rehousing certain categories of objects, evaluating condition of objects, interpreting legacy documents, summarizing descriptions, measuring objects.
Interns will receive training in object handling, inventory procedures and collections management software. They will be able to reference experience working with a wide variety of objects and be able to claim credit for a definite body of work.
Experience/Skills:
Candidates will possess basic computer skills, touch keyboarding skill, an interest in collections/registration work, and the ability to lift 40 pounds. Experience with collections data base software, Microsoft word, Microsoft Access and object handling a plus. Museum studies or relate field graduates and students preferred.
If the educational institution authorizes course credit, NARA has a specific agreement for the parties to allow that. These internships last a minimum of 12 weeks and may be from a minimum of 16 hours a week to a maximum of 32 hours a week, Monday through Thursday.

The Brentwood Library--Outreach Librarian Position Open
The Brentwood Library seeks a full-time Librarian to provide reference assistance, user instruction, and community outreach. Duties include collection development, technology assistance and instruction, interlibrary loan services, teen programming, special collections, and promotion of library services. ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS, strong service commitment, excellent communications skills and current experience with information delivery via web services required. Starting salary range $33,000 to $41,000 depending on experience.
