Members and Instructors,
I am glad to announce the successful
addition of tae kwon do to the martial arts club! Jin
Kang, Grant Murphy, and Jacob Arbital will
be instructing tae kwon do on Thursday from 6:30-8:00pm and Friday
from 5:00-6:30pm in studio 10 of the TREC. All instructors are UT
students with at least 7 years of experience each and all have belts
ranging from 1st to 3rd degree in rank. We have not had an operating tkd
for a couple years so please show your support and welcome our new
instructors!
This coming Saturday and Sunday is the highly anticipated 2010 21st
Southeastern US Kendo Federation Championship and Promotional! This will
be occurring October 2nd (7:30am-7:30pm) and October 3rd (8am-12:30pm).
We will be needing five volunteers during these days to help
keep times and run errands. Also, the set up for the tournament will be
October 1st at 6:00pm (HPER) and will last a couple hours. Please show
your support by emailing me if you can volunteer on October 2nd and 3rd.
Also, please plan on contributing to the set-up on October 1st if you
are able. Dr. Eda and the Knoxville Kendo Club have put much time into
its planning. This tournament will be one of the largest Kendo
tournaments in the entire Southeast with over 250 participants!
Respond by email if interested!
The meeting for the planning of
the University of Tennessee Annual Judo Invitational will be Monday,
October 4th at Mellow Mushroom 8:30pm on Cumberland Ave. We will be
discussing the contributions of all available members as well as
planning for set-up, trial run, take-down, and operation. Mark your
calendars! If you are not able to attend but wish to contribute, respond
by email. The tournament date is Saturday, November 20th.
To our webmaster: Could you please add these times for tkd to the
web!
Best!
