Greetings One & All,

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend and Boom's Day. Thanks to everyone who made it out to the first meeting, I hope it wasn't too confusing. We had a much larger turnout than anticipated. I apologize to anyone who didn't get the forms they needed, or more importantly, my apologies to those who didn't get enough pizza.

We also had a pretty good turnout at the BBQ/tailgate this weekend, 'twas a smashing good time.

To the girl at the meeting who had a nice dog, and knew about the mtn bike race on the 12th... Is this what you were talking about ? "Black Bear Rampage <http://www.scottsbikes.com/> - A 42 mile mountain bike race utilizing the best trails of the Tanasi Trail System in the Cherokee National Forest." Thank you for bringing this up, if you can give me or Ben Dorger a heads up about where else you were thinking of mtn. biking; was it Chattanooga? I've found some other trails in the area, but if you know some more just let us know. Thanks a lot.

If anyone has a trailer hitch on their vehicle, please let me know. Thanks.

What you need to know:

Meeting - We have our regular weekly meeting this Wednesday 9/8/10 at 6:30, same place same time as last week. We will be going over information for Fall Bash mostly. We usually go to Stephano's after meetings for pizza or the Hill; we'll play it by ear on that one.

Fall Bash - Coming up 9/10 - This Friday we will be going to the Ocoee River area to camping, rafting, mountain biking, hiking, and kayaking. We passed around a signup list for this trip this past Wednesday. This trip is on a first come first serve basis and we will take as many people as we can, but at some point we will have to have a cutoff. For those of you who signed up, let me know if you are a beginner kayaker, as we have only a limited # of slots. If you have a change of plans, and cannot make it on this trip, please let me know so we can fill your spot. Also, if you are not an official club member by this Wednesday we may have to mark your name off the list due to capacity of the trip.

Membership - If you want to go on a trip, first you need to be an official club member. In order to do this, you must submit the two registration forms, turn in a copy of your insurance card, and pay your dues (50$ cash or check make payable to "Canoe & Hiking Club at UT") Just email any of the club contacts if you can't make it to the meeting this week to turn in your forms etc.

How to access the membership forms - Follow the links, print forms, fill them out, bring them to meeting

1. 2.	Guest Traveler Form (Unless you don't have a car or are a UT Employee, fill out)

We will also have some forms printed out for you to fill out in case you can't print these off prior to the meeting.

Full Moon Bike Ride - 9/23

Kayaking Nantahala - 9/24-26 ?

Backpacking Gregory's Bald - 10/1-3 - Fall Colors

Fall Break - 10/7-10 - Cumberland Island Backpacking, Sea Kayaking Fontana, or Surf Trip 2.0 ?

Remember anyone can submit trip ideas, and/or lead their own trips.

Thank You for those of you who are still reading this ridiculously long email; I'm sorry there was a lot to cover. See you Wednesday !

P.S. - I've had several folks ask about the conflict of the Oregon game and Fall Bash. This was just the best weekend for the trip, since every weekend in September is a Home Game. If you only want to come for part of the weekend, that's fine, but you must provide for your own transportation. This means that you can't get reimbursed for gas, unless you have a whole car full of people with you that are on the same schedule with you. This applies to all trips.
