The iSchool at Drexel is pleased to welcome three
new faculty members this fall
Kristine Unsworth joins the College from the iSchool at the
University of Washington, where she completed and is in the final stages of her
dissertation defense. Her dissertation is entitled: “Indentifying the
enemy: Social categorization and national security policy.” She also
earned her MLIS and her BA from the University of Washington. Her research
interests are in the areas of information policy, ethics, government information
and surveillance studies.
Dr. Weimao Ke comes to us from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he recently received his Ph.D. in Information
Science from the School of Information and Library Science. He earned his
Master of Information Science from Indiana University, Bloomington, and a
Bachelor of Engineering from East China University of Science and Technology.
He worked in the IT industry for many years as a software engineer, information
systems developer, technical leader, and project manager. Dr. Ke’s
research is centered around information retrieval, particularly the
investigation of intelligent systems that support better connection and
interaction between people and information.
Dr. Tony Grubesic joins us from the Department of Geography at
Indiana University, Bloomington, where he was an associate professor. Dr.
Grubesic comes to Drexel University as a strategic hire, maintaining a joint
appointment with the College of Arts and Sciences. He will lead the
University’s new Geographical Information Systems Laboratory, which was
initiated by the iSchool. His research interests include geographic
information science (GIScience), public policy evaluation, urban/economic
analysis and spatial analytical methods.
