Date: September 15, 2010 Time: 1:00 - 2:30 pm ET Topic: Freight and Carbon Footprint: Efforts to Enhance Supply Chain Sustainability Description: Due to rising fossil fuel costs and a greater number of regulations designed to improve air quality and protect the public good, many freight transportation companies are undertaking efforts to reduce their carbon emissions and lower their carbon footprint. These efforts to enhance sustainability not only provide environmental benefits, but in many cases are providing economic benefits to the companies pursuing them, due to more efficient fossil fuel use and resulting lower fuel costs. It is likely sustainability initiatives will continue to become more important for many freight transportation companies in the coming years. Presenters: * Dr. Diego Klabjan, Associate Professor, Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences, Northwestern University * Lee Kindberg, Maersk Talking Freight seminars are eligible for 1.5 AICP Certification Maintenance Credits (for AICP members).
