If you upgrade to Office 2010 and are presently using EndNote, you must install new plugins for EndNote, or Word 2010 will freeze up every time you open it. I searched fruitlessly through dozens of Microsoft support discussion boards and even tried a registry edit before figuring out that EndNote was the problem. Here is the site to download the latest plugins for EndNote that are compatible with Office 2010.
