Troops: in ME 452, the method for problem
experience (PE) submittal is as an email attachment. Following are directives for combining
scans into a single compact pdf document which greatly simplifies the submittal
process. The facilities where prior
semester students have completed these operations are in the Perkins 208-209
computer lab, although you will probably find similar capabilities at computer
labs throughout the UT campus.
1. Scan your document using the default software (Cano Scan) under the Cano Scan Toolbox. Click on Scan-1 icon.
2. Crop the preview image to fit your document. A separate window named ScanGear CS will appear after cropping, then click the “Perform” button.
3. A jpg will be created which you should save to the desktop.
4. Repeat process 1 – 3 for however many sheets of paper constitute your PE submittal. Each sheet must be scanned, cropped and saved separately.
5. Right click on each jpg file, then select “convert to a pdf file.” Adobe Acrobat will thus convert each jpg into a separate pdf document.
6. On the Adobe toolbar select the icon “Combine Files.” Click, then drag and drop sequentially the remaining scanned pdf files into the Combine Files window.
7. Adobe will thus create a binder1.pdf which will contain all scanned pdf files combined into a single pdf file.
8. Label the single pdf file “YourLastname_PE0x” where “x” is the PE assignment number, and attach it to an email to [log in to unmask].
Note that PE 1 is due submitted to the instructor by 6 pm September 7. If you are totally baffled by submission as an email attachment, you may place your hardcopy of PE 1 (only) in the instructor’s Perkins 305 mailbox by the deadline. AJB
