Dr. Don A. Wicks has been named interim director of Kent State University's School of Library and Information Science, following the departure of Dr. Richard Rubin, who is now associate provost for extended education at Kent State.

Wicks joined the SLIS faculty in 1999. Before coming to Kent State, Wicks served as an assistant professor at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, and as a lecturer at University of Western Ontario.

He earned a Ph.D. in library and information science in 1997 from the University of Western Ontario; a Master of Biblical Studies from Heritage Theological Seminary (formerly London Baptist Seminary) in 1991; an M.A. in history from University of Guelph in 1971; and a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Winnipeg in 1969.

Wick's research interests include information-seeking behavior of clergy, access to information for senior populations, collection management - interdisciplinary collections, and electronic reference service. He is director and co-founder of the Center for the Study of Information and Religion in SLIS.
