GTA@OIT Fall Call for Proposals Each fall and spring semester, Graduate Teaching Associates and Assistants (GTAs) with sole responsibility for teaching a course are invited to submit a proposal for the GTA@OIT Grant. In addition to mentoring, grant recipients receive $500 to purchase software, attend a professional conference, prepare a professional presentation or publication about integrating technology into a course, or use as a stipend. To learn more about the GTA@OIT Fall Call for Proposals, visit http://itc.utk.edu/services/gta/. The deadline is 5 p.m., September 10. For more information, e-mail Dr. Christina Goode ([log in to unmask]) or call 974-9670. Free Development Assistance If you've always wanted to incorporate a new idea into your course, but are not quite sure how to make it work or lack the time to implement it, ask us to help. Whether it's creating an individual learning element or assisting with structuring a whole course in Blackboard, we're here to work with you. Asking for assistance is easy. To begin the process, launch the online request form. Get the Most Out of Technology Enhanced Classrooms If you are teaching in a Technology Enhanced Classroom (TEC) this fall--especially for the first time--be sure to take advantage of the brief training sessions that are scheduled August 12, 13, 16, and 17. (See schedule and a link to register at right.) To schedule a one-on-one session at another time contact the HelpDesk at http://help.utk.edu Several new TEC spaces are on schedule for completion by the beginning of fall semester. For a full list of available classrooms, visit the updated Classroom Equipment Search page after August 15. Media Digitization at DMS Do you have journal articles, book chapters, videos, audiotapes, slides, or other instructional materials you want to make available to your students electronically? Digital Media Services (DMS) can digitize your content and provide URLs for online access. Once you add these secure links to your Online@UT site or course Web site, students have access to the content 24/7 for the duration of the semester. For more information, stop in to see the DMS staff at 209 Hodges Library or contact the HelpDesk by phone at 974-9900 or online at http://help.utk.edu. More Technology Training Workshops for You & Your Students We are busy updating fall workshops to accommodate recent releases of Microsoft Office 2010, Adobe Creative Suite 5, and SharePoint 2010. Look for updated Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, Flash, SharePoint and many other sessions in early September. In the meantime, there's still space available in the 3-part PowerPoint series that begins on Monday, August 10. Registration is required for all workshops. To view descriptions and register for sessions, visit the OIT Training page. If you have questions or need help with registration for any of the workshops listed above, contact the HelpDesk at http://help.utk.edu or 974-9900.
