Dear 2009 graduate,
Every year, Library Journal surveys recent graduates to
collect demographic and employment data on librarians and information
professionals across the country. The collective knowledge gathered and
published in the October 2010 Library Journal issue will provide LIS
professionals competitive knowledge about their professional area. This
information also helps schools accredited by the American Library Association,
such as the School of Information Sciences, by giving us concrete ways to
improve our curriculum and services to the next cohort of students entering our
program.
But most importantly, a high number of participating
graduates from a program greatly enhances that school’s visibility, which
in turn improves the value of the graduate’s diploma.
I hope that you will participate in this year’s survey
and help your alma mater meet its goal of moving into the top 10 LIS schools in
the country.
Library Journal’s Placements and Salaries Survey of
2009 LIS Graduates is completely anonymous and all answers are encrypted
for security and privacy. No one will know if you have answered the survey, and
there is no way to identify which of the answers are the ones that you
provided.
The survey asks some 25 mostly multiple choice questions
that cover demographics, employment status, and educational experiences. The
survey should take 5 – 10 minutes to complete.

The password is lisgrads, and the deadline is August 20,

Thank you in advance for your support of the School of
Information Sciences and best wishes in your new career.
Best regards,
Edwin M. Cortez,
Professor and Director
