Reference Librarian
The Lister Hill Library of the Health
Sciences is seeking a creative, energetic, and flexible librarian for our
reference team. Responsibilities include reference service with some rotating
weekend hours, liaison activities for the School of Nursing or other assigned
school, research consultations, classroom, web-based and customized
instruction, online and database searching, outreach/marketing activities,
and participation on library and university committees. The successful
candidate is expected to contribute to the profession and to build a record
of progressive scholarly and professional achievement. Required: ALA accredited MLS or equivalent. Preferred: 2 years reference experience in an academic health
sciences library, skill in teaching adult learners, experience searching
biomedical literature and academic databases including MEDLINE, demonstrated
enthusiasm and aptitude for emerging technologies, and ability to work both
independently and in a team environment. The ideal candidate will have a
strong public service orientation, initiative, flexibility, and the ability
to adapt and work creatively in a rapidly changing environment, demonstrated
ability to work collaboratively with all levels of library staff and patrons,
and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. This is a non tenure-track faculty position
with rank dependent on the successful candidate’s qualifications and
experience, reporting to the Assistant Director for Reference Services.
Salary range: $36,000-$48,000. Excellent fringe benefits, including
