Senior Exhibitions Manager
Job Description
Salary: $30,000 annually, plus commission and benefits package
This supervisory position will serve as Senior Exhibitions Manager for the Traveling Exhibition Service of International Arts & Artists, a non-profit arts service organization based in Washington, DC. This position reports to the Director of Exhibitions and assists with the development and management of approximately 8 to 10 traveling exhibitions within our larger program of more than 40 exhibitions on the road or in development. Working with an Assistant Director/Head Registrar, Registrar, Venue Coordinator and supervising one Exhibition Manager who manages an additional 8 to 10 exhibitions, the role of the Senior Exhibition Manager is to successfully market and book consecutive venues on exhibition tours, develop or assist with creating all accompanying materials for an exhibition, and have all exhibitions developed on time and on budget.
Qualification Requirements:
Minimum of 4 years work experience in traveling museum exhibitions, museum field or other arts related field that demonstrates an understanding of exhibition development and knowledge of museums, their practices and interests
Bachelors degree in an art related field
Experience with developing and managing budgets
Experience with managing several tasks simultaneously with strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize
Strong written and verbal communication
Specific Duties Includes:
Oversee all marketing of an exhibition including researching potential venues for traveling exhibitions through a variety of resources including a database of 1400 US Museum/150 Canadian museums that results in fully booked tours with consecutive venue periods
Oversee all aspects of each exhibition budget that results in exhibition coming in on budget
Develop marketing materials including written text for exhibitions in a variety of lengths working in conjunction with IA&A Design Studio and any outside curators, lenders and other professionals that includes: description, exhibition specifications, artist(s) biographies, curator(s) biographies, and other descriptive material
Develop exhibition content including panel and label text working in conjunction with Venue Coordinator, IA&A Design Studio and any outside curators, lenders and other professionals
Oversee all aspects of exhibition catalogue development including securing image rights when necessary and draft all IA&A preface or acknowledgement pages
Assists Venue Coordinator to make sure all press releases and images for press are accurate
Assists Venue Coordinator on creating all educational resource material working in conjunction with any outside curators, lenders and other professionals
Develop potential new traveling exhibitions through museum professional and lender contacts

GENERAL
PURPOSE: Under general
supervision, coordinates and performs a variety of youth services
functions on
behalf of the Timberland Regional Library District.
PRIMARY
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The

Plans,
conducts and evaluates library
programs for children, middle school teens, child care providers and
youth
activities and events, including story times.
Provides
customer assistance and
reference/readers advisory services to library patrons.
Provides
story time, tours, and/or
instructions to youth groups visiting the library facility.
Conducts
reference interviews and
assists patrons in locating library materials and information.
Provides
assistance to patrons in
accessing interlibrary loan materials.
Responds
to general patron
inquiries; interprets and explains library policies and procedures.
Assists
patrons in the use of
library equipment, computers, databases, catalogs, print resources, and
the
Internet; troubleshoots equipment issues as required.
Conducts
public education classes
and/or provides informal computer tutorials to patrons.
Assists in
maintaining assigned
library collections including evaluating/weeding materials, monitoring
patron
collection requirements, and requesting new and replacement materials.
Maintains
book displays, bulletin
boards, and youth areas for assigned library facility.
Participates in conducting public
outreach activities for area of assignment.
Promotes library services and resources to educational institutions, social/health agencies, and/or community groups.
Conducts visits to local schools and delivers book talks, provides story time outreach, and/or conducts special presentations as assigned.
May participate in maintaining, updating, and evaluating the Districts youth website.
May assist in administering funding for youth services programming as assigned.
May provide training and/or guidance to assigned volunteer personnel.
May assume responsibility for library operations in absence of Supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Masters Degree in Library Science, and some library experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
State of Washington Librarian Certificate is required.
Depending on area of assignment, a valid Washington Drivers License may be required.
Required Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of library science.
Library operations, services, policies, and procedures.
Processes and procedures relative to the delivery of youth services.
Reference and readers advisory services.
Youth programming, activities, and events.
Customer service standards and procedures.
Required Skill in:
Performing and coordinating various youth services functions.
Assisting in ensuring the delivery of high quality youth services to the community.
Providing reference/readers advisory services and customer assistance to patrons.
Maintaining assigned library collections and youth library facilities.
Participating in coordinating and delivering youth programming activities.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, District departments, library personnel, outside agencies, community organizations, patrons, and the general public.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
Work is performed in a library environment.
Subject to sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 40 pounds.
Must be
able to lift, carry, and
move books and/or library materials.
