Public Services Librarian and College Archivist
The “Public Services Librarian and College
Archivist” provides reference services and archival management expertise
to the Hendrix College community. Primary duties
include library reference/research assistance, managing the Hendrix College
Archives (including Congressional papers,) and supervising library serials
collections. This position will require some evening and occasional weekend
work. Reporting to the Director of the Library, the ideal candidate will
have an ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS degree, library reference experience,
archival experience, a basic understanding of database systems (Microsoft
Access, e.g.) and digital repository services (DSpace, e.g.,) and a firm
commitment to quality library services and student academic success.
Preferred qualifications include experience with Innovative’s Millennium
system, digital preservation and digital assets management, knowledge of
current and emerging national cataloging standards and media/data migration
issues, supervisory experience, and the ability to work positively and
collaboratively with diverse constituencies. This is a 12-month
non-tenure track faculty appointment.
