  Applications are invited for a full-time permanent Program Specialist
(Vacancy No. 100151) in the Office of Strategic Initiatives at the Library
of Congress.  The Program Specialist will assist the Executive Program
Officer and other members of the team in implementing the Digital
Preservation Outreach and Education (DPOE) Program and be responsible for
helping to build and operate a national training network of partners
committed to digital preservation outreach and education.

The salary range is $89,033.00 - $115,742.00. Primary duties include but are
not limited to:

*         Writing reports, funding requests, and other materials for
publication
*          Planning or accomplishing special projects
*          Performing work to develop and maintain relationships with
government, private industry, academic institutions, museums, libraries and
other nonprofit organizations
*         Providing guidance for building a national digital preservation
education program
*         Performing research drawing upon a variety of sources and
electronic databases

Digital Collections Archivist
The American University in Cairo, Cairo, Egypt

The Rare Books and Special Collections Library of the American University in
Cairo seeks a Digital Collections Archivist to play a leadership role in the
development of digital archives initiatives.

Reporting to the University Archivist, the DCA manages AUC's Digital Archive
and Research Repository (DSpace-based) including supervising all digital
holdings (photographs, video, audio files), setting standards for digital
preservation and metadata, providing training for staff, collaborating on
development, policies, and storage space matters for the repository with
other university units, managing the ingest of electronic theses,
dissertations (ETDs) and faculty publications and coordinating policies and
procedures with academic administration, computing, student affairs and
other university units.

The position also oversees the encoding of archival finding aids (XML, EAD),
creates MARC records using Innovative Interfaces Millenium Metadata Builder,
manages ArchiveIt subscription service, the RBSCL's website, news blog,
online subject guides, and social media sites. There will also be
opportunities to collaborate on fundraising efforts, mounting exhibitions,
and other RBSCL-wide tasks.

Requirements: An ALA-accredited MLS, or an MA degree in history or allied
field with a degree from archival studies program; experience in an archival
repository or special collections library setting; excellent oral and
written English; supervisory experience; excellent organizational skills;
experience in a multicultural environment.

Additional Information: This is a Faculty appointment at rank of Instructor.
The position will remain open until filled. Preferred starting date is
January 2011.

The Dartmouth College Library seeks an energetic, service oriented
professional, who is interested in exploring new and improved services
through the use of technology, for an entry-level Access Services Librarian
position. Reporting to the Head of Access Services, the Access Services
Librarian has administrative responsibility for all aspects of Baker-Berry
Library circulation and reserve services (directly supervising four
positions within a total staff of 23.5 FTE positions); holds the primary
responsibility for the library's automated circulation/reserve module; and
is responsible for the coordination of circulation and reserve activities
across a library system of nine libraries which serve the undergraduate
college and the graduate and professional schools and programs. This
position collaborates closely with the other Baker-Berry public service
areas, Jones Media Center and Research & Instruction Services, to provide a
quality user experience. The librarian serves on library-wide committees or
task forces representing circulation and reserves services and contributes
to the development of the library's digital presence.

QUALIFICATIONS: MLS from an ALA-accredited program by the time of
appointment and relevant experience in an academic or research library. The
successful candidate will have a knowledge and interest in library issues
related to circulation and reserve services; knowledge of copyright law
within the library environment; project management experience; experience
with the structure and administration of an integrated library system
(Innovative Interfaces Inc. preferred) or the equivalent; strong commitment
to library public service; excellent analytical, organizational, and
communication skills; and the ability to work collegially in a team
environment.

RANK AND SALARY: The position is part of the Librarian Classification System
of Professional Ranks. Salary is commensurate with experience and
qualifications for Librarian I. Full benefits package including 22 vacation
days; comprehensive health care; retirement plans, including TIAA-CREF; and
relocation assistance.
