Library Information Help Desk Manager/Campus Night Coordinator

Gainesville State College - Oconee Campus

 

The primary responsibility of this position is the supervision of service at the Oconee Library Information Help Desk and campus-wide administrative support weekday evenings. Work schedule: 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday and three to four weekend afternoons per year.

 

Essential Duties:

·         Supervise and provide assistance at the Information Help Desk for approximately 32 hours per week (greet patrons; direct patrons to appropriate area to find the information they need; assist patrons with basic computer questions; receives/supervises receipt of incoming calls; manages circulation of materials).

·         Recruit, coordinate, train and supervise student workers at the Information Help Desk.

·         Create the desk schedule for staff and students.

·         Supervise the makeup testing operation.

·         Receive, process, and maintain reserve materials for the Oconee Campus.

·         Serve as back-up for GIL Express and inter-campus loan services

·         Supervise and participate in shelving materials, shelf reading, and labeling stacks.

·         Maintain overdue and delinquent reports and send notices to patrons for both Gainesville and Oconee Libraries and Gainesville ACTT Center.

·         Collect statistics relating to circulation for the annual report.

·         Serve as a contact for classroom problems, security, or other administrative needs in the evening.

·         Assist evening faculty and students with registration and BANNER.

·         Serve as an academic advisor.

·         Serve as Building Director for the Student Resource Building in the evenings.

·         Manage the maintenance of library equipment (printers, fax machine, copiers, security gate, sensitizers/desensitizers).

·         Participate in the weekend afternoon rotation.

·         Contribute to the improvement of Library functioning through cooperative and active participation in meetings, projects and other activities.

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and/or Experience:

·         Required: Bachelor’s degree

·         Preferred: Two years Library circulation/access services experience

·         Preferred: Experience using Endeavor’s Voyager library automation system

·         Excellent written and oral communication as well as effective listening skills

·         Computer experience with Microsoft software.

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

·         Ability to work under minimal supervision to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize duties.

·         Appreciation of diversity and flexibility.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $27,400-34,200 annual rate. Salary offered to successful candidate will be determined by relevant skills, education and experience.
