University’s Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in Montgomery, Alabama, invites
applications for the entry-level
position of
Technical Services Librarian. The Technical Services Librarian is responsible
for helping carry out the law library’s
acquisition,
cataloging, collection maintenance, and training functions.
This is a
full-time, 12-month position. This is an entry-level position. The position is
funded and will begin as soon as a qualified
candidate is
located and hired. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Salary will be commensurate with
experience.
This announcement is running concurrently with the Technical Services Assistant
opening; only one position will be
filled at
whichever level a qualified candidate is found.
Some
functions and responsibilities:
· Receiving and
processing library materials (especially serials) and maintaining related
electronic records
· Cataloging
materials as assigned, including electronic materials
· Helping
maintain statistics of library holdings
· Providing
circulation desk and reference desk assistance as needed
· Providing
bibliographic instruction for library patrons
· May supervise
support staff or hourly workers
· Other duties
may be assigned
Required:
· MLS degree or
equivalent from accredited school
· Working
knowledge of or relevant to online automated library systems
· Dependability,
punctuality, and motivation
· Detail-oriented
focus
· Good
communication skills and ability to work well with others in a team setting
· Commitment to
the Christian mission of the law school and university
Preferred:
· Experience
working in a library, especially in technical services operations
