The Second Announcement on the 90th Anniversary Celebration of the School of Information Management(SIM), Wuhan University A Special Seminar on the 90th Anniversary of Wenhua Library Science Specialty Call for Papers April 20. 2010 The year of 2010 marks the 90th anniversary of Boone Library School,Wuchang, the former of SIM, Wuhan University. In 1920, Ms. Mary Elizabeth Wood from U.S.A, together with the founders of China’s modern library science, Mr. Samuel Tsu-Yung Seng and Mr. Thomas C. Hu, etc., established Boone Library School, Boone University,which was then renamed as Boone Library School, Wuchang, which was the origin of Chinese library science education. Through the efforts of generations in the past 90 years, we have not only created a new institution of library science education, but also the immortal spirit of intelligence and services. Nowadays, the Boone Library School spirit has gone beyond the SIM and become the common wealth of the whole LIS circles in China. To cherish the memory of our pioneers in creating Boone Library School, and to carry forward the immortal spirit, SIM will be holding a Special Seminar on the 90th Anniversary of Boone Library School during the 90th Anniversary Celebration of SIM, and the Third International Symposium on Library and Information Science Education in the Digital Age, which will take place from October 8 to 11, 2010. The theme of this Seminar will be Boone Library School and China’s Education of Library, Information and Archival Science. The topics under the theme will include but not limited: The creation and development of Boone Library School Boone Library School alumna and Boone Library School memories Boone Library School and China’s Education of Library, Information and Archival Science The world influence of Boone Library School We sincerely invite Boone Library School alumna and their relatives, the researchers of Boone Library School, and our colleagues all over the world to submit your original paper or other written materials, and attend the Seminar. A memorial collection of Boone Library School will be published (under the sponsorship of SIM), which will be mainly composed of original papers, but we also accept general articles in the range of the theme. The deadline for submission is August 31, 2010. For specific requirements for the format of the paper, please also refer to the journal, Document, Information, & knowledge, or visit the conference website.
