Clarion University of Pennsylvania College of Education and Human Services Department of Library Science The Department of Library Science at Clarion University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a nine month full time temporary faculty position beginning August 2010. Specialty: Librarianship Subspecialty: Cataloging and Classification/Metadata The successful applicant will be expected to teach in the department's undergraduate and ALA-accredited graduate programs, which are offered on campus, at distance sites, and online. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in all of the department's programs and teaching formats. This person should have the education and experience to teach courses the department offers in cataloging and classification/metadata and should be able to recommend and develop new courses in this subject area. Further, the successful candidates will be expected to teach in at least one additional core area of the curriculum, (such as introduction to the profession, collection development, reference, management of libraries, and research methods) and in one or more elective areas (see the department Web page, http://www.clarion.edu/libsci, for a full listing of courses). Minimum qualifications include an ALA-accredited master's degree and completion of all requirements but the dissertation for an earned doctorate in library science or a related field. Candidates with an earned doctorate will be eligible for appointment at the rank of assistant professor Willingness to undertake teaching-related travel and the completion of a successful interview are required. The successful completion of a Clarion course in online teaching is also a condition of employment.
