OIT is pleased to announce two Faculty Fellows
for the 2010-2011 academic year:

Dr. Blanche O'Bannon

Dr. Jenn Fishman

Drs. O'Bannon and Fishman will each work with the OIT Innovative Technology Consulting initiative approximately 10 hours a week during the upcoming academic year on instructional technology projects to advance exemplary teaching and enrich the experience of students in their colleges and throughout the campus. Dr. Fishman will focus on incorporating technology into writing instruction with an emphasis on digital video pedagogy and the sociability of writing at UT. Dr. O'Bannon will develop online modules for her courses on integration of technology into K-12 environments and plan research on use of the modules. They will also continue to facilitate the Instructional Technology Community of Practice started earlier this year. Drs. O'Bannon and Fishman have a long history of integrating technology into their teaching and an excellent working relationship with OIT. We look forward to collaborating with them next year!

Faculty Fellows 2009-2010 Year-End Wrap Up
Many thanks to Drs. Terri Combs-Orme and Trena Paulus for making the first year of the OIT Faculty Fellows program such a successful one. In addition to co-facilitating the new Instructional Technology Community of Practice, they each engaged in projects to further effective use of technology in teaching and learning in their Colleges and campus wide. Dr. Paulus worked with OIT and the UT Learning Consortium to produce a comprehensive guide on Best Practices for Developing and Delivering Online Instruction, carried out a research study to identify support needed by faculty to conduct more effective research on their use of technology to support teaching and learning, and submitted three articles for publication based on her work in conjunction with OIT's Innovative Technology Consulting initiative. Dr. Combs-Orme focused on the use of learning objects in teaching, specifically video-based objects. She is producing a series of video case studies tied to specific learning objectives in the College of Social Work and a video designed to recruit students to the college. Dr. Combs-Orme also used her time with OIT to explore new technologies and teaching methods and to share those with her colleagues. We look forward to ongoing collaboration with Drs. Paulus and Combs-Orme!
