The Washington State Department of Transportation is seeking an experienced professional to fill the Deputy Chief of Ferries Division Operations and Construction. Reporting to the Assistant Secretary of Ferries, this position will manage and direct the Operations, Terminal Engineering, Vessel Maintenance, Preservation and Engineering sections. The incumbent will serve on the Division management team and provide strategic operational thinking and long-term planning to ensure:

• Safe, cost-effective, customer-oriented, reliable and efficient transportation of 23 million passengers annually.
• Accurate operational performance measurement and reporting.
• Strict fiscal accountability to Ferries Division Assistant Secretary and WSDOT Secretary.
• Effective communication and working relationships with employees, unions, customers, communities, United States Coast Guard, and internal and external stakeholders.
• Safe and cost-effective working environment for Ferries Division employees.
• Consistent adherence to all state/federal laws, collective bargaining agreements and the department’s operating policies and procedures.
