The Center for Information and Communication Studies
currently has an opening for a 20-hour per week student worker at the Oak Ridge
National Laboratory Research Library. This is an excellent opportunity for a
student to gain experience in all aspects of special library operations. This
student will support several functions in the technical services department
(e.g. shelving books, journals, and reports, circulation tasks and document
delivery and interlibrary loan). The ORNL Research Library is currently
involved in cataloging a large collection of e-books, so the student can expect
to work on this project. Students are also given the opportunity to assist at
the reference desk.
Preference will be given to a current SIS student (U.S.
citizen) who is at least 6 months away from graduation, who can work both
during the summer and the school year. Hours can be arranged around the
student's class schedule, but must be during the day, Monday through Friday. A
recent graduate may be considered for this position.
