POSITION: Assistant Librarian (Part-time), Upper
School (High School) Library
LOCATION: St. Christopher’s School, Richmond,
Virginia
DESCRIPTION: Part-time Assistant Librarian to work
afternoons (12:00 to 4:00) Monday-Friday throughout the school year. Duties
involve all aspects of library service and require a detail-oriented approach.
Includes reference, bibliographic instruction, collection development,
technical services, circulation, and media equipment.
ENVIRONMENT: One full-time librarian and two part-time
assistant librarians serve faculty, staff, and a student body of approximately
300 boys, grades 9-12. St. Christopher’s School, a church school of the
Episcopal Diocese of Virginia, is a college preparatory school for boys Pre

REQUIRED: Master’s degree in Library Science
from an ALA accredited library school or an equivalent combination of education
and experience. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate clearly in
person and in writing. Ability to balance responsibilities. Experience with
integrated library systems, database searching, educational technology, and
social networking.
STARTING DATE: Mid-August, 2010. Contract for the
2010/11 school year.
CLOSING DATE: The search will continue until a
