Instructional Services Librarian

Carson-Newman College invites applicants for an Instructional Services Librarian in the Stephens-Burnett Memorial Library.  The position is a full-time, ten-month, tenure track position to begin August 2010.

Candidates for the position must have an ALA-accredited master's degree, a passion for information literacy, substantial teaching experience preferably in an academic library, recent reference experience in an academic library with numerous electronic resources, knowledge of instructional technology, eagerness to incorporate emerging technologies in library services and instruction, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Carson-Newman employs faculty and staff who are actively supportive, through a local church, of its aim as a college with a Christian commitment.

Candidates for the position of assistant professor will provide the majority of the library's information literacy instruction to the College community, assess and promote the library's information literacy program, collaborate with faculty and other librarians in the design and delivery of library instruction, provide reference service, share evening and weekend duties (one evening per week and two or three weekends per semester), and serve on Library and College committees.

The salary will be commensurate with educational preparation and experience.  Group life and health insurance as well as a 401K retirement plan are available on a participating basis.
