The Fort McMurray Historical Society has traditionally hosted many unique programs and events annually. As the park continues to offer more events and provide more services for our visiting public, it is necessary to have staff capable of marketing the events effectively and ensuring that events operate smoothly. Events include Park Opening, Celtic Day, National Aboriginal Day, Old Fashioned Christmas, Exhibition Openings, Fundraising events and presentations to the public.
This individual will be responsible for graphic designs, media releases, volunteer recruitment, training and scheduling, and liaising with the community to generate donations. As part of this position, this person will manage summer staff positions as required.
The Work Description: The Cultural Coordinator will be responsible for the design of posters, media releases, planning, volunteer recruitment, and organization for all of the special events scheduled for the year. This individual will be responsible for managing the details for each event on our calendar and where possible, creating new events to increase our visitation.
The employee will:
· Design and produce advertisements in the form of posters, media releases, radio advertisements, etc. for all park operations.
· Liaison for the media for Heritage Park.
· Seek donations for the events.
· Create event schedules.
· Host event meetings with outside stakeholders.
· Recruit, train and schedule volunteers.
· Manage summer staff as applicable.
· Plan event activities.
· Organize the equipment and supplies for events.
· Create a local celebrity list.
· Handle the administration required for each event.
· Assist the Executive Director in operating each event.
· Assist with tourism bookings.
· Attend training sessions as available.
· Conduct evaluations and create a final report for each event
· Handle other duties as required.

The Waukesha County Museum is offering one paid internship position with its Education Department 2010 summer camps. The Education Intern will work directly with the Director of Education to develop, implement, and evaluate the museum’s 2010 summer camps: “Adventures in Wonderland: Exploring What’s Old in New Ways.” These camps will take place June 21 to 25, July 19 to 23, and August 16 to 20, 8:15 am to 5:00 pm, and will focus on science, art, and play, respectively. He or she will work both behind the scenes and with the public and volunteers. This internship will begin on June 8 and will go through August 28. Marketing/Communications Internship (paid)
The Waukesha County Historical Society and Museum is offering a part-time, paid internship position in its Development & Marketing Department for the summer of 2010. The Marketing/Communications Intern (MCI) will report to the Director of Development & Marketing, aiding in designing, implementing, evaluating, and revising all aspects of the museum’s marketing/communications program. The MCI will function as a team member in both the Department and as a member of the entire museum staff. The MCI will also receive exposure to and opportunities to interact with other museum professionals (curator, archivist, education director, etc.). The Waukesha County Museum is offering a part-time, paid Exhibit Research Internship for the summer of 2010. The Exhibits Research Internship will provide practical experience researching exhibits that present Waukesha County’s history to visitors of all ages. In 2010, this may include the museum’s summer traveling exhibits and the fall 2010 exhibit, “Memories of World War II.” The intern will work directly with the Curator of Collections& Exhibits and Archivist in many aspects of the museum’s exhibit research, including utilizing the two- and three-dimensional collections and researching secondary sources. The University of Illinois at Chicago Library seeks a University Archivist to head its university archives program. The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is a research institution with quality standards in research and publication. The University Archives includes the records of the university's undergraduate and graduate programs in liberal arts and sciences and professional programs in the health sciences and reports to the Head of the Special Collections Department.
Specific Job Responsibilities: The University Archivist has primary responsibility for planning, developing, and implementing a university archives program within the academic research library setting. Duties include overseeing the UIC records management program and assisting offices and colleges with developing records management plans in accordance with University Statutes and Illinois State Records laws; supervising the transfer of selected records to the university archives for permanent retention; proving access to holdings by accessioning collections, writing finding aids, and providing references services. Additionally, the University Archivist assists rare books and manuscript personnel in providing reference and other services such as the preparation of accessions, user guides, and exhibitions as needed.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Library Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association; three to five years professional archive administration experience in a research library. Understanding of records management fundamentals. Professional commitment to librarianship and archives administration and evidence of ability to meet university standards in clinical research, publication, and professional service. Additional Desirable Qualifications: Certified Archivist or Certified Records Manager. Excellent writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with administrators, researchers and scholars making use of the archival collection; strong public services orientation; knowledge of rare books and manuscript librarianship.
Salary/Rank/Contract: Salaries are competitive and based on education and experience; entry level faculty appointments begin at $47,000; faculty status; twelve month appointment; 24 days vacation; 12 days annual sick leave with additional disability benefits; 11 paid holidays; medical insurance (contribution based on annual salary; coverage for dependents may be purchased); two dental plans available; life insurance paid for by the State; participation in one of the retirement options of the Illinois State Universities Retirement System compulsory (8% of salary is withheld and is tax exempt until withdrawal); no Social Security coverage but Medicare payment required; physical examination at University Health Service is required upon appointment.

This faculty member will become part of a team of 3 library faculty in the Education and Behavioral Sciences Library (EBSL), one of 11 subject libraries at University

The EBSL supports all academic programs in the College of Education, as well as the academic units of Communication Sciences & Disorders and Human Development & Family Studies in the College of Health and Human Development and Psychology in the College of the Liberal Arts. We seek a librarian with the broadest possible experience and training in our major areas of service—teacher education, higher education, instruction/information literacy, psychology and human development,
children’s and young adult literature, and outreach—a specialized generalist in education and the behavioral sciences.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Head of the Education and Behavioral Sciences Library and Director of the Pennsylvania Center for the Book, the successful candidate will:
• provide expertise and leadership in general reference services (live, remote, and web-based) in the education and behavioral sciences disciplines,
• develop and present course-related instruction and conduct seminars, student orientations and student tutorials in all undergraduate and graduate subject areas within the EBSL,
• create subject web pages and guides to research,
• develop collections to support the academic units served by the EBSL,
• serve as liaison to appropriate departments based upon the strengths of the candidate,
• hold rotating administrative responsibility for particular
programs and initiatives of the PACFTB, and
• engage in research, scholarship, and service in accordance with
promotion and tenure guidelines for Penn State library faculty.
Required Qualifications: Masters of Library Science degree from
an ALA-accredited program (or equivalent); experience or academic
preparation in one of the subject areas served by the EBSL; excellent
oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; strong
commitment to service and outreach missions; ability to work
independently and collaboratively; expertise in the use of print and
online resources. Preferred Qualifications: Experience or academic
preparation in working directly with children in schools, libraries, or
other settings; reference, instruction, or outreach experience in an
academic, school, or public library; strong web skills; and experience
working with diverse populations.
