The Reference and Instruction Department at the Ohio University Libraries in
Athens, Ohio invites applications for an Engineering Librarian to join a
team of librarians dedicated to providing personal reference assistance and
high quality collections and instruction services.  We seek a candidate with
a commitment to working effectively with students, faculty and staff from
diverse backgrounds.
Position Description: Acts as the liaison to faculty and students in the
Russ College of Engineering, working to develop collegial and collaborative
partnerships, to provide excellent research services, and to develop
innovative approaches to information literacy and collection building. As an
integral member of the Reference and Instruction Department, performs
general reference duties, including evening and weekend hours and teaches
instruction sessions for the Department’s first year library instruction
program.  Participates in committees, task forces, and teams, and in
professional associations. Qualifications

*Required:*  Masters degree from an ALA-accredited program.  Bachelor’s
degree in engineering or a related field or significant experience working
with engineering resources.  Necessary skills include organizational,
communication, computer, and analytical skills to enable effective retrieval
of information; instructional skills to teach library use and information
competency; ability to understand and manage acquisitions budgets; and
communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with diverse groups.

Salary and Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience and education; 22
days annual vacation; generous insurance, and Ohio state employee or
alternative retirement.

Library Information: The Reference and Instruction Department is responsible
for reference assistance to patrons in a wide range of subject areas and
general library instruction at the first year level. The Department has an
active digital reference service and is committed to incorporating emergent
technologies into both its reference and its instruction missions. It is a
major component of the Library’s Learning Commons, a technology enriched
learning environment with assistance available from reference librarians,
technology assistants and writing tutors.   Alden Library, the main facility
on the Ohio University Athens campus includes over 3 million volumes with 45
professionals and 45 support staff.  The Library is a member of CRL, ARL,
and OhioLINK.

enrolls approximately 1,300 undergraduate students and almost 300 graduate
students and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees across the
traditional engineering spectrum and in technology disciplines such as

[MUSEUM-L] Paid Graduate Student Summer Research Internship at The     Betts
House in Cincinnati OH

*DESCRIPTION:*

The 1804 Betts House, the oldest brick house in Ohio, interprets the history
of Cincinnati through exhibits and programs on the built environment
(architecture, historic preservation, building trades and materials, and
construction techniques).

The Betts House is preparing an exhibit on the bicentennial of the New
Madrid Earthquakes for 2011. Our 205 year old house is one of the few
remaining survivors of the earthquakes and as such, has a unique position in
this important yet often forgotten episode of history. Our exhibit will
cover three areas: geology, history, and the effect of earthquakes on
historic and modern building technologies.

The intern will conduct research for the history section of the exhibit by
looking for primary sources and materials. The intern will prepare a
bibliography, make copies where appropriate, and prepare some draft text for
the exhibit

The intern will receive an orientation on local resources and will research
independently and meet weekly with staff to review their progress. The
intern will also be able to experience day to day operations of the facility
learning first-hand the variety of roles and responsibilities of museum
professionals.

This internship is funded, in part, by the American Association of State and
Local History Alderson Internship program.

*QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED: *

This internship is open only to *graduate students* studying history, public
history, or museum studies. The internship will be 15-20 hours a week and
the intern will receive a stipend of $1500.

Intern candidates must have *excellent research and writing skills* and must
be able to work independently and meet deadlines.

Job Summary:

The Florida International University Libraries are taking a new approach to
public services in the context of the 21st century library, implementing an
information commons service model and seeking opportunities for greater
engagement with our user community. The Libraries seek an energetic,
user-focused individual to lead this change, serving as an agent to empower
faculty and staff to be successful in this new environment. The successful

Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, the position will have administrative
