BACKGROUND
The Museum of Fine Arts of St. Petersburg, Florida, a Palladian-style building beautifully sited adjacent to the city’s downtown waterfront, was opened to the public in 1965. In 2008, a new 39,000-square-foot wing designed by Yann Weymouth of Hellmuth Obata & Kassabaum more than doubled the Museum’s size.
The Museum’s collection now encompasses almost 15,000 objects, from Greek and Roman Antiquities and Pre-Columbian, Native American and Asian art to European and American painting, sculpture and photography. The significance of the collection is evidenced by the number of loans requested by other prominent museums. Berthe Morisot’s rare sculpture Head of Julie Manet (Artist’s Daughter) was recently in an exhibition at Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris and another significant O’Keeffe was on exhibit at the Whitney Museum of American Art earlier this year.
Three major exhibitions are mounted annually and ten in total. Most recently The Baroque World of Fernando Botero drew a large number of visitors. The 2005 Dale Chihuly show broke all previous attendance records, drawing 170,000 visitors. The following year Monet’s London: Artists’ Reflections on the Thames, organized by the Museum around its own Monet, attracted over 100,000 visitors and then traveled to The Brooklyn Museum and Baltimore Museum of Art.
The extraordinary breadth and scope of the exhibition schedule and the collections provides the Education Department with a broad range of teaching opportunities for children and adults and opens myriad possibilities for public programs.
The Museum of Fine Arts operates with a budget of $2.8 million and a full-time staff of 19 and 9 part-time. The Museum is governed by a 26-person Board of Trustees.
The MFA is presently completing the reaccreditation process of the American Association of Museums.
THE POSITION
The Director reports to the Board of Trustees through its President. S/he is an ex-officio member of the Board and works and communicates closely with its executive committee, other committees and individual members. The Director’s primary responsibilities are to provide vision, strategic planning and implementation for the Museum’s advancement and to ensure financial stability and continued programmatic excellence. S/he will take a leadership role in program development and, with staff and Board, in all fundraising and marketing activities, including the recently launched campaign to raise a $5 million endowment fund.
The Director will play a significant role in continuing the Museum’s upward spiral and expanding its visibility and recognition nationally and internationally.

While no candidate will possess all of the skills and attributes listed, the successful candidate will possess many of the following:
• At least ten years professional experience gained at an art museum in progressively senior positions; advanced degree in art history.
• Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor cultivation and solicitations and ability to devise new and innovative methods for increasing earned income.
• Evidence of securing or initiating successful blockbuster exhibitions and sponsorship for these exhibitions; active network and relationship with national and international art institutions, especially through exhibitions and cultural tourism experience.
• A keen appreciation of the MFA’s mission.
• Evidence of successful leadership through strong interpersonal skills with staff, board and patrons; talent for building trust and confidence.
• Demonstrated experience in collections management, conservation, accessions and preservation.
• Dedication, discipline and ambition to translate vision into concrete achievement.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, and to oversee day-to-day operations.
• Demonstrated financial management skills and experience with marketing, media relations and branding.

Description
Supervises and drives the work and staff management of the Medical
Library. Provides leadership for strategies and partnerships that
improve the quality and availability of biomedical information services
and resources to Group Health staff. Provides in-depth complex medical
literature searches; develops educational and promotion strategies for
integration of biomedical resources into practice. Provides professional
and technical oversight for the development and maintenance of
information resources and collections in the Group Health medical
library and maintained on the dept. web pages. Provides in-depth complex
medical literature searches using appropriate internet or external
resources and networks to identify, analyze and filter biomedical
information to meet the needs/demands of clinical search requests.
Maintains awareness of issues and technologies in the areas of digital
resources and information literacy. Oversees web-based strategies to
improve processes, products, and access to information. Plans and
implements the Integrated Library System. Sets and applies standards
that address collections, digital resources, information literacy,
design, updates and cost-effectiveness. Assures financial stability and
accountability.
Minimum Education Requirements
Masters Degree in Library Science and/or Masters Degree in Information
Science.
Minimum Knowledge/Skills Requirements
Successful leadership skills, including: leadership consultation,
ability to collaborate effectively and influence change with
multi-disciplinary teams throughout a health sciences community, systems
thinking and quality management skills, ability to lead
change, knowledge of web technologies, excellent communication and
customer service skills, financial and human resource management, and
demonstrated success working with medical staff. Demonstrated competency
in on-line searching of major electronic services in a broad range of
disciplines and on the internet. Knowledge of medical terminology,
biomedical reference sources (e.g., PubMed, OVID, EBSCO, etc), the use
of controlled vocabularies, integrated library systems, DOCLINE,
internet information retrieval, user
knowledge of Access and Excel.
Minimum Experience Requirements
2 years of experience leading others and demonstrated ability to
collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams throughout a
health sciences community; experience providing mediated online database
searching in a biomedical field, reference services
and cataloging; experience providing instructional services to health
care professionals; experience in the development and delivery of
clinical knowledge resource educational and marketing programs.
Experience incorporating educational programs into web-based
tools.
Preferred Experience
3 years of experience supervising staff; experience in online database
searching and reference services; experience in the development and
delivery of clinical knowledge resources educational and marketing
programs.
Minimum License/Certifications Requirements
At time of hire MLS or MLIS.
Active WA State Drivers License.

Oregon Multicultural Librarian, Assistant Professor, University Archives, Oregon State University Libraries
OSU Libraries invites applications for the position of Oregon Multicultural Librarian, a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level.
The Oregon Multicultural Librarian plays the lead role in collaborative collection development of the Oregon Multicultural Archives (OMA), one of the Libraries’ key special initiatives. The OM librarian is a member of the University Archives unit within the University Libraries. The University Archives’ primary function is to develop the University’s historical records program through the acquisition, arrangement and description, preservation, digitization and display of university records, faculty papers and other OSU related collections. The University Archives also collects and makes available historical materials pertaining to natural resources, especially forestry, and documents the lives and activities of cultural and ethnic groups in Oregon. The Oregon Multicultural Archives comprehensively acquires, preserves, and makes available collections documenting the African American, Asian American, Latino/a and Native American communities of Oregon. The OMA’s diverse collections reflect how these communities have contributed to the identity of the state of Oregon and advance scholarship in ethnic studies and diversity both on the Oregon State University campus as well as on a state and regional level.
Working with Oregon’s cultural and ethnic communities, such as the Urban League of Portland and Oregon’s nine federally recognized tribes, the OM librarian will work to strengthen the OMA holdings while expanding its digital presence. Outreach to OSU faculty, students, alumni and organizations is also a key component of this position, supporting university wide efforts to emphasize diversity, cross-cultural literacy, and community engagement. Reporting to the University Archivist, the OM librarian position actively participates in research, creative professional activities, and professional service.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
· MLS degree from an ALA-accredited library school or foreign equivalent; or M.A. in History with a minimum of 12 credit hours in archives administration.
· Demonstrated knowledge of archival theory and concepts, including metadata schemes used in the development of finding aids in archival collections, such as Encoded Archival Description, Dublin Core and MARC.
· Ability to work with a broad range of researchers in the use and appropriate handling of archival materials.
· Demonstrated knowledge of the preservation of fragile materials.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
· One to two years of professional work experience in a special collection or archival unit with a focus on cultural and ethnic collections.
· Experience working on digital library team projects.
· Fluency in reading, writing and speaking Spanish.
· Previous supervisory experience.
Salary range for this position is $42,000-$52,000 depending on education and experience.
