Academic, Leadership, and Service Scholarship applications are now available and must be submitted online and a copy of your student's transcript/academic history must be received in our office by Friday, April 23 at 4:30 PM. Parents Association Member Benefit Spotlight

FERPA Tab on the Parents Association Website

The method with which the University of Tennessee governs the distribution of student information is based on the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 or FERPA. Due to growing inquires from parents about FERPA, the Parents Association has developed a new FERPA section of our website to help assist families with understanding student privacy policy. Important Information for Students

Last Day of Spring Classes is Next Week

The Spring 2010 semester will come to a close next week, Friday, April 30. The final exam period will begin on May 4 and will last until May 11. Encourage your student to take advantage of the study days prior to, and during the exam period for some extra study time.

It might also be a great time for your student to check his or her progress by running a DARS Report. More information on DARS Reports can be found here. Friday, April 30, is also the deadline for students who plan to graduate in Fall 2010 to submit an application for graduation.

All Campus Events Presents Carnicus 2010

Carnicus is a longstanding singing and drama competition among student groups who perform a variety of skits of their own creation and design about campus life and pop culture. Carnicus 2010: "A Fist Pumping Carnicus" will take place in the Cox Auditorium of the Alumni Memorial Building on Friday, April 23 and Saturday, April 24 at 7:30 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the UC Central Ticket Office or through Tickets Unlimited. Prices are $10 for UT students, $13.00 for UT faculty and staff, and $15 for the general public. Great Decisions Program Presented by Ready for the World

The Great Decisions Program, coordinated by the Center for International Education and funded by the Ready for the World initiative, will bring five speakers from around the country to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville this semester to address our nation's most pressing foreign policy issues. The next lecture, entitled "The Persian Gulf," will take place on Wednesday, April 28, at 7:00 PM in the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy and will feature Retired Ambassador Barbara K. Bodine, lecturer in public and international policy, director and scholar in the Nation's Service Initiative, The Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University. Exciting Announcement from Volunteer Dining

Volunteer Dining/ARAMARK is excited to announce a valuable new benefit to having a meal plan. Students are now able to use their Meal Equivalency (ME) option for dinner at all national-branded dining options that ARAMARK offers on campus. These brands include Chick-fil-A, IHOP, Subway, Einstein Bros. Bagels, McAlister's Deli, KFC, Pizza Hut, Quiznos, Petro's and Sbarro.

Focus groups and surveys revealed that students agreed that the most desired improvement to the program would be more options for using their Meal Equivalency. For more information on Volunteer Dining, click here or call (865) 974-4111.

UT Knoxville's Nuclear Engineering Graduate Program in Nation's Top 10

UT Knoxville's nuclear engineering graduate program is now a top ten program, according to the U.S. News and World Report 2011 graduate rankings. The program was ranked ninth in the country, rising three spots from last year. UT's law, education, and logistics programs also were ranked among the best in the nation. Veterinary College Hosts Open House

Every year, the students at the UT College of Veterinary Medicine invite the public to get a behind-the-scenes peek at veterinary medicine. This year's Open House will take place on Saturday, April 24 from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Guests will have the opportunity to tour exhibits featuring small animal medicine, large animal medicine, community organizations, and pet rescue centers. Clarence Brown Theatre Presents Man of La Mancha

The iconic American musical Man of La Mancha will play at the Clarence Brown Theatre through May 2. The production features a grand and stunning set, more than 50 costumes, a cast of 34 professional, undergraduate and graduate actors, and a 16-piece orchestra. Ticket prices range from $5 to $33.
