Established in 1978 in memory of Philadelphia SLA member Beverly L. Knower, this award is intended to reflect her abiding interest in encouraging students to consider careers in special libraries. Supported by charitable contributions to the Chapter and proceeds from its events, the Knower Award is given every year to enable current LIS students who are active in the local SLA student chapter to attend the association's annual conference.
