Web Services Coordinator, Teaching & Learning Resources
DePaul University, the nation’s largest Catholic University, is a
private, urban institution with 6 campuses and more than 275

General Summary:
The Web Services Coordinator for Teaching & Learning Resources (TLR)
will jointly report to the Director of Library Information &
Discovery Systems and the Director of Instructional Design and
Development. This position will lead the collaborative design and
development of web-based services across all library, instructional
design, and museum platforms and interfaces. S/he will collaborate with
TLR colleagues as well as University Information Services (IS)
technologists, among other stake holders, to coordinate technical
implementations, integrate applications according to guidelines and
standards for web content management, and conceptualize new
user-centered designs, including the effective incorporation of Web 2.0
technologies that extend and enhance the University's diverse teaching
and learning resources. Other responsibilities include support for
faculty development in the use of technology in teaching and learning
and active participation in local, state, regional,!
national, or international organizations related to interface design
and academic computing. This position is posted until filled.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Coordinate the seamless web presence of all TLR public
interfaces and web-based applications; Develop web elements, guidelines,
and assessment tools in support of seamless web design.
· Lead teams and work with stakeholders to determine technologies
and user-centered design strategies and plan the effective
implementation of these technologies and strategies.
· Oversee web use statistics-keeping, develop reports, and
disseminate information on TLR web services.
· Support and train colleagues on collaborative web technology
development and use.
· Maintain professional interest in the areas of interface design
and academic computing.
· May supervise a part-time staff and/or up to 3 student workers
on a project basis.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited
program, Educational Technology, and/or Human-Computer Interaction.
· Demonstrated project management experience working with
technical teams to integrate IT systems or databases into front-facing
web designs.
· Familiarity with relevant technologies such as SQL, PHP, XML,
XHTML, CSS, XSLT, and Javascript.
· Working knowledge of web usability principles and standards.
· Evidence of continued professional development.
· Excellent interpersonal and group communication skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Advanced writing and editing skills.
· Advanced interpersonal communication skills.
· Advanced project production/layout and design skills.

· Ability to spend extended periods standing.
· Sitting, kneeling, crouching, bending, and routinely lifting up
to 25 pounds.
· Reading, visual acuity, color vision, hand-eye coordination and
motor skills sufficient to use a computer, copy machine and other office
equipment.
· Ability to work evening and weekend hours plus travel among
DePaul Campuses.
Preferred Requirements:
· Substantive experience in a research library, museum, or web
publishing setting.

We are interested in hiring a graduate student with a background in either museum studies or library and information science to catalogue objects using PastPerfect Museum Software. This project is supported through a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
