CATALOGING & METADATA SERVICES LIBRARIAN: This supervisory position provides leadership in cataloging and metadata creation and management; provides performance, planning, management, training and evaluation of 4.0 FTE classified staff
in the Cataloging & Metadata Services Unit; is responsible for the overall management of the Unit. Other responsibilities include developing and maintaining effective data reporting and program analysis. The successful candidate will also participate in planning,
developing and implementing programs to enhance departmental effectiveness as a member of the Bibliographic Services Operations Team.; and will serve as a subject bibliographer for assigned general collection areas.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited MLS; supervisory experience, progressively responsible experience in cataloging and metadata operations; demonstrated experience working with OCLC and with cataloging modules of an integrated
library system; capacity for leadership, including interpersonal and communication skills; commitment to lifelong learning and responsiveness to client needs; analytical skills, such as independent problem solving/critical thinking, quantitative analysis, time
management and computer skills; knowledge of current trends/issues in cataloging and metadata creation; experience with one or more non-MARC metadata schema, standards, best practices, and their application; experience with markup languages including HTML and
XML; demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service; successful experience working in a team environment with both professional and support staff Preferred: knowledge of at least one foreign language; demonstrated and current professional development;
experience with Innovative Interfaces, Inc integrated library system (Millennium preferred); experience with collection development.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Minimum salary: $52,000. Excellent benefits package.
