Reporting to the University Librarian, the incumbent provides management of
the entire Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grant funded
project, Virtual Terrapin Station: Blending Traditional and Socially Created
Archives for Research, Teaching, and Cultural Enrichment. The Project
Manager will be a member of the Grateful Dead Archive team and will be
directly responsible for the planning, coordination, design, and execution
of the archive exhibition website and community web publishing platform.
The Project Manager will oversee communication with the IMLS (the Institute
of Museum and Library Services, a grant-making federal agency) including
interim and final reports. The Grateful Dead Archive is a multimillion
dollar collection that has sparked international interest.  This position is
responsible for overseeing the creation and implementation of the "Virtual
Terrapin Station" that will incorporate digitized content from the archive
plus materials contributed from the Deadhead community. Specific
responsibilities include the development of a detailed project plan to
design the website, digitize material for it, build a rights tracking
function, and oversee the development of software to enable the exchange of
information between library systems.  The Project Manager has responsibility
for the timely and successful distribution of over $1.4 million dollars
comprised of the original IMLS grant and matching Library funds according to
strict rules and deadlines per the general terms and conditions of the
grant.
   Under general direction of the University Librarian, the Project Manager
formulates policy for the project administration and establishes the methods
used to attain the goals of the technology project.

Qualifications include:
•Professional degree from a library school or other appropriate degree or
equivalent experience in one or more fields relevant to library services
•At least 2-3 years of progressive experience working on digital library
team projects in a leadership role, including substantive experience with
archival materials in an academic or research library environment
•Demonstrated broad knowledge of project management concepts, practices,
standards and processes
•Demonstrated ability to identify key issues critical to the success of a
desired product or outcome and develop recommendations and justification for
the most productive course of action
•Ability to quickly research and collect pertinent information from related
reports and knowledgeable persons, to integrate essential information, and
use that information to define and test options and alternatives

The European Foundation Centre (EFC) is an independent international
not-for-profit association, which aims to promote the work of foundations
and corporate funders in and with Europe. Based in Brussels, Belgium, the
EFC requires one full-time ‘Information Department Intern’ for the period of
one year (Sept 2010-2011) (EU citizens only).

The Knowledge and Information Management Department (

manage and disseminate information on the foundation and corporate funder
community in Europe as well as on EFC member foundations.

Job duties for this position include:
•       Dealing with information requests and help the staff of the
department in various tasks such as the maintenance of the website content
•       Giving assistance with the development of new internal information
tools
•       Giving assistance with the training of staff using information
management software
•       Creating profiles of new member foundations as they join the EFC,
and entering them into the database.
•       Maintaining and updating current member profiles using websites,
annual reports and other publicly available resources
•       Involvement in all stages and aspects of producing overviews of the
EFC membership, including research, profile writing and editing
•       Additional administrative work, especially related to the
dissemination and storage of EFC publications and the reception
•       Giving assistance to the Communication department looking for
information, giving administrative or editing support
•       Giving assistance with the management of the bibliographical
database as well as with its related services (loan management, periodical
recording, …)

The candidate should be preferably a student or recent graduated in
Information Sciences/Library. Applicant must have good analytical and
organisational skills; excellent knowledge of English; knowledge of other
European languages is a definite asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Word
required, experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Dynamics or graphic web
design a plus.
Internship period: 12 months, starting middle of August or beginning of

The EFC offers:
•       A stipend of €700 per month
•       One roundtrip ticket back home with a limited cost of €300
•       A language course with a limited cost of 125 Euros/year (half paid
at the beginning of the course, the other half paid at the end under the
reception of the 'diploma')

•       Bus/Metro pass within Brussels during your internship period

POSITION PURPOSE
To collaboratively develop and implement a program of library instruction,
instructional support services, and collections which further the missions
of the Library and the College


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Collaborate with other faculty librarians to develop and provide an
innovative and comprehensive program of information literacy instruction
designed to support self-directed, self-sufficient learning in a variety of
settings and in a variety of instructional modalities, including the online
environment

*Provide faculty with an understanding of information literacy and how it
relates to Lane's core abilities; assist instructional faculty with the
integration of information literacy into their courses

*Develop and deliver traditional as well as innovative reference services to
students, faculty and staff, both in person and at remote locations.

*Participate in the development and management of the library collection of
print-non-print, and online resources

*Serve as library liaison to one or more academic departments

*Promote library collections and services internally and externally

*Collaborate in the design and implementation of assessment methods for
quality improvement and program development

*Gather and analyze data to ensure an appropriate ongoing mix of services
and resources that best support the instructional missions of the library
and the College

*Participate in library governance and planning;

Council, and Orbis Cascade Alliance committees
