population of 61,153) through its main library and two branches. With three

Library loans 3.5 million items annually and provides an outstanding array

Responsibilities. The Director of the Worthington Libraries will report to a
seven-member Board of Trustees and work with the Board, staff and major
stakeholders to achieve the strategic vision for the Library as defined in
its 2010-2012

Strategic Plan. Overall responsibilities include: continuing and building on
extensive collaborative partnerships with other library systems and
community organizations; leading a team of talented professionals to manage
exceptional library services and programs; providing sound fiscal management
while continuing to build and strengthen resources; and implementing new
technologies to diversify access to information.  For additional details see

Qualifications. A master's degree in library science from an ALA accredited
program; a minimum of five years of professional library experience in
positions with progressive levels of responsibility; and a minimum of three
years of experience supervising a system-wide department or branch library,
preferably in a public library. Essential attributes and skills include:
creativity, energy and enthusiasm; demonstrated success in effectively
promoting library services to the community; political acumen; collaborative
and consensus-building skills; experience in providing sound fiscal planning
and management; and a thorough knowledge of current trends and "best
practices" for library service.  Proven success working effectively with a
policy-making board is highly desirable.


 


Compensation. A starting salary range of $100,000-120,000 (with final
placement dependent upon experience and qualifications) and an outstanding
fringe benefits package.
